Our journey began with a memorable stay in a lovely dog-friendly holiday home in Cornwall. We were inspired and captivated by the idea that one day we could be hosts. Consequently, during our stay, we bought a notebook and began making plans. A home from home with a touch of luxury, in a peaceful location, where dogs are welcome with no hidden fees. Years passed and we forgot about our pipedream.

Then one day while flicking through the local newspaper I spotted a tumble-down stable and hayloft. It was perfect! We went to have a look and I immediately fell in love. We started the lengthy process of purchasing our first holiday home. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly on the conversion despite several challenges. And finally, we welcomed our first guests in October 2011. Since then we welcomed visitors from all over the UK and beyond and received many wonderful reviews.
However, in 2020 James had the opportunity to purchase a 200-year-old miners’ cottage in need of refurbishment and a cosy lodge perfect for romantic escapes. After much discussion, we finally took a leap and started the long purchasing process and founded Willow Forest Stays. In August 2021 we welcomed our first honeymooners to Casita Lodge and continued to welcome couples looking for a peaceful location where they could re-connect. Meanwhile, we were also refurbishing 24 at St. John’s. Finally, after much anticipation, we welcomed our first family to stay. Since Easter 2022 it’s been our pleasure to host families and friends seeking memorable stays and rejuvenating short breaks.

At Woodland Barn, we are happy to welcome up to two dogs, providing an enclosed garden and scenic walks right from your door. The Forest of Dean is a dog-friendly destination with an abundance of walks, activities, and pet-friendly pubs and restaurants. Casita Lodge offers a cosy and intimate atmosphere with an open-plan living space designed specifically for couples. You can cook delicious meals in the fully equipped kitchen, enjoy a romantic dinner in the dining nook, or cuddle up by the log burner and watch your favourite romantic movie. Lastly, you can relax and unwind in your private hot tub. Nestled in a beautiful courtyard garden, it provides the perfect setting for quality time spent together.

Peaceful Cottage with Private Hot tub
The charming 24 at St. John’s (Willow Forest Stays) is located in a serene area opposite St. John’s Church. It can comfortably host up to six guests in its three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Upon entering, you’ll discover an open-plan kitchen and dining area with a breakfast bar Moreover this space also functions as a convenient workspace, equipped with plugs, USB ports, and excellent Wi-Fi connectivity.
The cottage boasts a cosy snug with reclining chairs, SMART TV and a log burner that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. There is a sunroom where you’ll find more seating and another SMART TV.
Relax & Unwind Outside
You can access the spacious garden through the French doors, which feature raised seating, a coal BBQ, and a private hot tub exclusively for your enjoyment!
It is our pleasure to provide a pet-friendly environment, welcoming up to two dogs. With an enclosed garden and picturesque walking paths just outside our doorstep, your beloved companions will quickly feel at home.
We can offer flexible accommodation for larger groups when 24 at St. John’s and Casita Lodge are rented together.
