About this listing

A peaceful couples' retreat with private hot tub in the Forest of Dean

Open plan living area
cosy dining nook
open plan kitchen

Casita Lodge is a peaceful couples retreat in the Forest of Dean, created for two people who want to slow down, switch off and enjoy a few days together.

You’ll have your own private hot tub, a cosy log burner for cooler evenings and a private enclosed courtyard garden.  It’s a lovely space to come back to after a day exploring the Forest, whether you’ve been walking, sightseeing, enjoying a long lunch or simply taking things at a slower pace.

Casita is perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or just a well-earned break together.  Start the morning slowly with coffee, spend the day discovering ancient woodland, lakes, viewpoints and the Wye Valley, then come home, light the fire and relax in the hot tub under the stars.

Your private courtyard and hot tub

Step outside and you have your own enclosed courtyard garden.

Casita does have neighbours nearby, but the courtyard is screened and not overlooked, giving you a private outdoor space to enjoy during your stay.

Have your morning coffee outside, sit with a book for a while or head straight for the hot tub after a day exploring the Forest.

Your private hot tub is ready for your arrival, and we provide robes and spa slippers too. There’s something rather lovely about slipping into the warm water as the evening draws in, especially after a long walk or a busy day out.

Cosy Lounge at Casita Lodge

Your own space for two

Inside, Casita is light, comfortable and easy to settle into.

The open-plan living space has a well-equipped kitchen for breakfasts, lazy lunches or evenings when you would rather stay in. There’s a cosy dining nook, comfortable living area, Smart TV and Wi-Fi, with gentle lighting and blankets for quieter evenings.

Logs and kindling are ready for the log burner too, so when you’ve been out walking all day or the weather turns a little cooler, you can simply light the fire and settle in.

The separate bedroom and bathroom complete your own little space for two.

Exploring the forest of dean

One of the things we love about Casita is how much there is to do within a short drive.

You can spend your days wandering through ancient woodland, walking beside lakes and rivers, discovering viewpoints, cycling forest trails or exploring the Wye Valley.

If you fancy something a little more adventurous, there’s cycling, canoeing and plenty of outdoor activities nearby. Or keep things slow with a country pub, afternoon tea, local crafts or a good meal somewhere special.

There are places to eat within around a 5 to 30-minute drive, ranging from relaxed cafés and traditional pubs to AA Rosette restaurants and award-winning fine dining.

And if you’d rather not plan too much before you arrive, don’t worry. We share our own local recommendations with you, including walks, places to eat, viewpoints, activities and some of the quieter places we love ourselves.

who is casita lodge perfect for?

Courtyard garden with seating and hot tub

Casita is especially suited to couples looking for a peaceful Forest of Dean break with their own private hot tub and a log burner to come home to.

It’s a lovely choice if you enjoy woodland walks and days outdoors, but equally enjoy coming back, closing the door and spending the evening together.

It works particularly well for couples celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, those wanting a quieter weekend away, or anyone who simply feels overdue a few days away from the usual routine.

Casita isn’t an isolated cabin in the middle of the woods. It’s set within St John’s Square on the edge of town, with neighbours nearby. Your courtyard is screened and not overlooked, and you’ll have your own private space to relax in.

We think that’s important to explain because we want Casita to be exactly what you were expecting when you arrive.

If you're celebrating

If you’re joining us for a birthday, anniversary or another special occasion, let us know.

We love marking these little moments.

We’ll leave a banner in the lodge and a handwritten card with a bespoke verse waiting for you when you arrive. There’s nothing extra to arrange and no additional charge.

It’s simply our way of making your stay feel that little bit more personal.

Come and slow things down for a few days

Casita isn’t about packing every minute of your break.

Have a slow morning. Explore somewhere new. Stop for lunch. Come back and get into the hot tub. Light the log burner when it gets cooler and decide whether you’re heading out for dinner or staying exactly where you are.

Sometimes that’s all you need from a few days away together.
